About Emerging Design

Emerging Design is put together by the folk behind the Melbourne Design Awards, design100.

We recognise that for emerging designers, building attachment with the design industry can be challenging, and we want to promote, empower and inspire you. Following your training or emergence into the industry, the next step to becoming a successful designer is to have opportunities to showcase yourself and your work, build your reputation and connect in with the industry.

We are laying down the foundation for the emerging design platform, and welcome involvement and input not just from emerging designers but from anyone involved in the design industry or supporters of emerging design who want to interface with this platform. We have envisioned the emerging design community, now join us and play a role in helping it grow and evolve!

What do we mean by emerging designers? 'Emerging' is a difficult term to define!

We are not only focussed on designers who are following the traditional path of tertiary or higher education, but talented individuals who have not had formal training, as well as established designers who are working in new mediums! Loosely, those designers who are at the start of or in the midst of their training, are within the first five years after training is complete, or those who have only been in the marketplace or working in a new medium for a few years all fit in.
